Blood Oranges, Cara Caras, Gold Nugget Mandarins and more

Dear LocalHarvest Customer,

The middle of winter doesn't have a lot to recommend it, culinarily speaking. In most places, the last harvest was a couple of months ago, and we are just shy of Spring's first gifts of peas and tender lettuces. It is, though, the season of glorious color and outrageous flavor in the citrus world.

We at LocalHarvest are lucky to work with a number of fine citrus farmers from California, whose fruit is at its peak right now. Don’t forget to place your order for sweet-tart, gorgeous blood oranges before they’re gone!

T&D Farms from Redlands, CA is offering their Cara Cara Navel oranges in bulk, which makes a great choice for stocking up on fruit for snacking and fresh juicing. Cara Cara oranges are seedless, with a deep reddish pink flesh. If you haven’t tried them, now is the time.

This month we are also lucky enough to have fresh white grapefruit, kumquats, and Golden Nugget mandarins, all available direct from our farmers to you.

Our refrigerator drawers are full of LocalHarvest citrus right now, and every day we come home and reach in for a ready-made snack. Delicious, fragrant, and good for you -- what more do you want?

Wishing you juicy snacking all month long,

-- The LocalHarvest Team
