Health News ~ Dairy: Food of the Gods?

Recipe Corner ~ Paleo Bacon Wrapped Chicken Strips from The Paleo Cupboard

Dear Atlanta,
National Cheese Day (June 4th) has passed but we couldn't let National Dairy Month slip by without a mention.  "To eat dairy or not" is a topic of much discussion among many of our readers.  This week's health article is a reprint from a post that Chris Kresser shared a couple years ago.  He does a nice job of addressing both sides of the issue in this informative article on the health impacts of the choice to eat dairy or not.  We hope you find it helpful.

If you fall on the side of eating dairy, we have some delicious options in our store.
Fourth of July is sneaking up fast, and Free-Range Chicken makes for a great backyard barbecue.  Many of you grabbed last weeks restocks of our bulk chicken bundles.  We still have bulk bundles of 3lb, 4lb, & 5lb Whole Chickens, Drumsticks, and Chicken Backs

Buying chicken in bulk is already a great value, and thru the end of the week you get the bonus of our Featured Category discount on all Grassland Poultry To get your 15% discount, enter the code "POULTRY" in your shopping cart.  This discount is good thru June 18th at 12:00 Midnight CST.  It only applies to "Grassland Poultry" items and orders less than 40 lbs. Excludes sale items, volume discounts, and gift certificates.

Check out this fantastic Paleo Bacon Wrapped Chicken Strips recipe from The Paleo Cupboard.  Make the recipe with chicken breasts, thighs, or tenders and to avoid heating up the kitchen you might want to try this on the grill.

Roam with the Buffalo and reverse leptin resistance.  We are partnering with long time friend, Kat James, to host her upcoming Total Transformation® Program Buffalo Adventure at a working Buffalo Ranch in Kansas City, MO., July 22nd-27th.  We hope you can join us.

"One of the most contentious issues in the Paleo nutrition community is whether dairy products are health-promoting or disease-causing...  the answer to this question isn't so simple, and it depends on several factors...

But if you tolerate it well, I haven't seen any evidence in the literature that convinces me you shouldn't be eating liberal amounts of full-fat dairy.

Customer Feedback
pork ground med

"Excellent!"

"I use this ground pork to make my own breakfast pork sausage.  It is low fat compared to store bought sausage.  And I can add my own seasonings as I am allergic to some herbs (the pepper family)."

"It's no secret....I really love bacon. I love it by itself or on pretty much anything. So I do enjoy finding ways to incorporate bacon into any meal. This is one of those simple recipes that you can keep on hand for when you have had a crazy day and need to throw something together fairly quickly. I usually have these ingredients around and it's a big hit with both kids and adults.

You can use any sort of sauce you like on them such as buffalo sauce or a sweet and sour sauce. For this recipe used a honey mustard sauce that is both sweet and a little spicy. Add a couple dashes of cayenne for an extra kick if you are in the mood.

Serve these with a side of vegetables or a salad and you have a quick and easy meal that everyone will love. Or make them as an appetizer and watch everyone scarf them down!"
