Wild Caught Shrimp Group Buy this weekend!



This weekend we will take orders for Ocean to Table, HACCP Certified Wild Caught Georgia Shrimp from St. Simons Island Shrimp Specialist!

Both fresh and frozen is available. These same shrimp sell for $12.99 per pound at our local grocers on the coast of Georgia. If you can find them in the Atlanta area they will be at least $15 per pound. Take advantage of the great price of $9.99 per lb!

I'm looking forward to shrimp scampi, boiled shrimp, grilled shrimp kabobs, shrimp and grits, shrimp jambalaya, shrimp salad … OK now I'm starting to sound like Bubba from Forest Gump but you get the point!

Unlike other group buys, Jason will deliver to us this Tuesday so plan on picking up this week.

Wild Caught Shrimp is an excellent source of Tryptophan (an essential amino acid), Vitamin B12, Healthful fats, including omega-3, saturated fat and cholesterol, Selenium, Protein, an Astaxanthin.

If you are a seafood lover you are won't be disappointed!

Tip: The frozen shrimp is flash frozen right after the catch and will be in a big block. If you only need a pound or so you can run part of the block under cold water and the shrimp will fall out. You can store the remaining frozen part of the block in the freezer until next time.

My Daily Bread Update

My Daily Bread will be on the market this week.

Wheat Vendor Change- My Daily Bread has switched their source for Organic, Non-GMO Hard Winter wheat. The color of the wheat is slightly different and will produce a more golden loaf. They are beautiful loaves, but they are a different color. They just wanted you all to be aware of the change. If you have any questions please feel free to contact them. Their contact info in on the grower tab on the website.

Market News

B&G Farm is offering EXTRA LARGE chickens this week. If you are not a big turkey fan this is a great alternative for your holiday meal. The chickens are vaccum sealed and will keep in your freezer for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years celebration.

Don't miss out on the flavorful heirloom tomatoes, they are coming to an end in the next few weeks! My family enjoyed them simply sliced with just a sprinkle of sea salt, olive oil, Basil- Red Rubin from Caley's and a dash of A&A Alta Cucina Crema Balsamic Vingar. It was beautiful and delicious! The purple and green hues from the basil really brought out the different colors of the tomatoes and it looked like a work of art. Made an impressive plate for 5 minutes of work!

Also, great time to stock up to have some good tomatoes for all the soups and stews this winter! TIP: If you are not a canner, you can actually freeze tomatoes whole- no need to blanch and peel. When you defrost them the skin slips right off.
