Scott Mendelson - Dietary Fat Loading for the Super Bowl Can Increase Fat Burning Enzymes

Recipe Corner - Bacon-Date Crusted Salmon (Paleo/AIP)

Happy February Atlanta,

Here in the Midwest we have caught a few glimpses of the sun recently, but for the most part we have seen more gray skies than blue this winter. One of the side effects of reduced exposure to the sun is that our bodies don't produce as much Vitamin D. This essential vitamin has been shown to play a role in mood regulation, bone health, weight loss, brain health and healthy heart functioning. Some great natural sources of Vitamin D to supplement the lack of sun exposure are fatty fish such as salmonswordfish, and mackerel. Tuna, egg yolks, and beef liver also contain this vital vitamin, although in lower levels. If you feel your diet isn't rich enough in these natural sources, you may benefit from including Vitamin D3 capsules on your next order.

You'll find a delicious way to get some of that naturally occurring Vitamin D in the Recipe Corner Bacon-Date Crusted Salmon, which is a restaurant quality meal that can be prepared in a flash.

Final preparations for the upcoming Super Bowl are likely underway. Regardless of which team you will be rooting for, we can all agree that we still want to maintain some semblance of healthy eating this Sunday. Read Scott Mendelson's article for a Super Bowl menu that will keep you both satisfied and on track.

Athlete's Corner - Scott Mendelson Q&A
Scott~ The whole family likes to eat "big" for the Super Bowl, but I do not want to get off track with my diet. What kind of things can I eat before and during the game in large portions that will not set me back with my fat loss efforts?  ~James of Miami Beach, FL

James~ Dietary fat loading meals as a part of a high calorie day is your big ticket to enjoying the game while stoking the fat burning fire. Dr. Serrano and I have been using high calorie days which are full of grass fed beef, baked chicken wings, guacamole, organic cheeses and raw nuts as a tactic to boost metabolism while surging fat burning enzyme levels. Our clients really enjoy this tactic...

Customer Feedback

"Surprisingly delicious!"

"Turns out organ meats aren't something you have to choke down just because they're good for you. This braunschweiger has incredible flavor- even the kids love it plain with a little mustard to dip it in or added to scrambled eggs. Too easy! Same goes for the liverwurst and head cheese- all very good!"

Thanks to Alena Haber of Grazed and Enthused for this recipe that will provide you with some much needed natural Vitamin D during these gray winter months. The unique combination of flavors and textures make this recipe special enough for guests (or maybe even a Valentine's Day dinner at home!), but is simple enough to prepare for a weeknight meal as well.
Farm Photos

Sunny warm days in South Baldwin county Alabama have been a win-win for both cattle and grass pastures. Significant visual improvement in pastures and livestock.

A large flock of birds are following this group of cattle as they make their grazing rounds.  January 2017 closed on a perfect grazing day.
