Farmer's Foreword

Well hello, hello everybody! As the heat creeps upon us, we're all gearing towards the summer goodies we love most -- tomatoes, squash, and peppers! Just this week, we stamped in more T-Posts to hold up all the tomato plants that'll be producing luscious fruit in the months to come.

As you drive into the farm, to your left you'll see the potatoes thriving, teeming with life; to the right, you'll see small plants of cucumbers, zucchini, and yellow squash. Unfortunately, the critters are just as excited about the summer plants as we are, so we're fighting beetles and bugs alike to ensure the harvest comes!

You'll still be receiving greens however, as we have lots of arugula, kale, cabbages, and Pac -Choi inching along for the shares to come.

Oh, and the sugar snap peas are just starting to bear, so share amounts are a bit small. The same goes with the mushrooms, which fruit when they want, however much they want.

We're working hard to bring forth the best produce we possibly can. So hang tight, and I hope you're ready for the good food to come!

Cheers,

- Lucille

CSA Sharing and You

For those of you who find it difficult to use a whole share of veggies in a week, we would like to suggest that you try "sharing a share". This can work with two complete strangers if you alternate pick up so that you only pick up every other week. The trick is the meetup, how do you find that person who would like a half share? If you would like to try this, we will collect names and contact information and share them amongst those of you on the list.  The meetup and agreement will be up to you. As far as payment, contact Lynn for details.

Vegetable Stir-fry

1 tsp. cornstarch
2 Tbs.  soy sauce
2 tsp. minced fresh ginger
2 tsp. Thai chile sauce, such as sriracha
1 stalk green garlic, minced
1 tsp. sesame oil
2 tbs canola oil
Veggies, chopped such as
Sugar snap peas
Shitake mushrooms
Carrots
Spinach or other green
Onions, green or bulb

Prepare the sauce by mixing the first 6 ingredients.  Heat the canola oil in a saucepan then add the onion and cook a few minutes before adding the garlic.  Stir the vegetables as they cook.  Add the harder vegetables, like carrots and mushrooms, cook a couple of minutes then add the spinach and cook and stir till wilted.  Add the sauce and stir constantly till well coated and bubbly. If it is too thick add some water.  Serve over rice.  It takes less than 10 minutes to cook the stir fry, so have the sauce and rice ready before you start.

Lunch n' Learn - Wed. 5/10, 11 AM- 1PM
On Wednesday, May 10th, the class will talk about the ins-and-outs of planning an organic cut flower bed. Learn about the right growing conditions necessary to supply yourself with cut flowers this season, and practice by planting your own flowers here at the farm!

Cane Creek Farm's Lunch N' Learn Series is held on the second Wednesday of each month, March through October.

The classes are $35 per person, limited to 10 participants, and advance registration is required. Register here.
Farm Camp 2017
Children between 8-12 who welcome bugs, dirt, and the outdoors are invited to attend Farm Camp! Participants will learn about sustainable agriculture, nature's pollinators, and clean eating during this one-week, hands-on experience! Camp will be held June 12-16 at a cost of $150. We are partnering with Cumming First United Methodist Church ( on Canton Hwy.) this year as part of their camp program. The farmers at Cane Creek will be active leaders in the camp. Drop off and pick up will be at the church with transportation to the farm.

Now's the time to sign up for your young one's next summer adventure, as there's limited space available
