Levity Love: "We are enthusiastic about the health benefits of eating fresh, clean, nutrient-rich veggies, and we love spreading the health-wealth with our community. We specialize in salad greens and small root vegetables.
We are unique, because we grow year-round, and our customers say that our greens have a longer shelf-life than any other greens they buy! We attribute this to our unique harvesting and storing practices."
Growing Standards? "Yes! Beyond organic."
Background of Levity: "We started as interns on a Permaculture farm in north Georgia, where we quickly decided our dream was to own and run a small farm business of our own. Since then, we moved to the north metro Atlanta suburbs, where we've started from the ground up and built our family farm."
A Good Mistake: "One of our first markets, in downtown Atlanta, was probably the site of our biggest goof. We packed the truck up with our coolers and gear, and we headed into town with almost an hour to spare before set-up time. So, we grabbed a coffee, had a quick meeting, and abruptly realized... we had forgotten our table baskets!
That day, we reluctantly put our produce out and stacked it directly on the table, feeling like a couple of knuckleheads who forgot to bring a pencil to school. Well, it turns out, that layout was more favorable than any we'd tried before, and we've set up our table the same way since!"
More than a Farm: "Not only is Levity Farms a source of nourishing food for our friends and family, but it serves as a model for other folks to see that a small family or group can run a profitable, responsible, honest business off of rented land, while directly contributing to the well-being of our community and regenerating the ecosystem that sustains us. Also, we love our farm dog, Freedom, and can't get enough bluegrass & boiled peanuts!"
