A New Year New You Great Workshops Available

Hello, and Happy New Year!

New Years is a time that we all want to make changes to take care of our health, and one of our missions at Alegre Farm is to help you reach your goals. We've got a lot of great workshops coming up this year. We'll be having cooking classes, natural skin care workshops, gardening, and healthy eating workshops so be sure to open this newsletter or check our website regularly!

RAW MILK IS BACK AND FRESH EGGS TOO!!!

We have partnered up with Barker Farms from Gray, GA to provide pastured eggs from chickens fed organic/no-soy feed and grass-fed raw milk from Jersey cows under their Pet License.

With the start of the New Year, we hope to provide you resources and ingredients to enable a nutrient-dense diet to support your health journey and compliment your GAPS diet if you are trying it with us.

Here is how the ordering and pick up will work:

Gray, GA is close to Macon, so in order to make it worth this Dairy Farmer's drive, we need to have a committed 25 gallons per week.

Raw Milk Pricing:
$9 per gallon
Prepay for the month and receive $1 off per bottle ($8.00 per bottle) with a minimum of one bottle per week.
Half gallons are by special request only for $5.00

Egg Pricing:
$6.00 per dozen
Prepay for the month and receive $1 off per doz ($5.00 per dozen) with a minimum order of one dozen per week.

Delivery will be on Fridays, but we hope to move to Thursday soon, to provide you with other resources like yogurt, kombucha, sauerkraut and kefir from other local farmers.

A Practical How-to Workshop

Eight (8) Hours, Four (4) two hour Sessions. Thursday evenings from 6:00pm-8:00 pm. Cost is $ 79.00 total with 15 Participants Max

Dates are January 25th, February 1, 8, and 15th at the Gwinnett Tech Garden

Learn how to select the best available location for your garden using key factors for success.

We will cover the efficient use of the space that you have available to maximize your vegetable harvest.The advantage of raised beds if you have poor soil.

We will share ideas on developing a sketch of your proposed garden.
You'll learn the amount of sunlight, quality of soil, and water requirement needed for a vegetable garden. The processes of improving soils with amendments, and how to move toward sustainable gardening.

Spring Garden Worshop 2 2018

Planning your Vegetable Garden

A Practical How-to Workshop

Eight (8) Hours, Four (4) two hour Sessions. Thursday evenings from 6:00pm-8:00 pm. Cost is $ 79.00 total with 15 Participants Max

Dates are March 29, April 14, 21, and 28th at the Gwinnett Tech Garden

For delicious, picture-perfect spring and summer crops of spinach, lettuce, peas, kale, and broccoli, April the time to plant. Learn how to start a successful spring, environmentally responsible food garden that provides delicious vegetables and herbs for the spring and summer months.

This workshop stresses sustainable gardening practices such as mulching, efficient watering methods, on-site composting, integrated pest management, and use of soil amendments.

Topics will include preparing a bed early spring and summer crops, cover crops, installing transplants, harvesting, some pest control, and watering techniques.

Learn soil preparation, amendments, and fertilizers; irrigation methods and systems; working with both seeds and seedlings; cultural requirements of specific cool season crops and varieties that do well in our area; and how to identify and manage common pests, weeds, and diseases of vegetable crops in our region.
