What makes maple syrup so good?

Dear LocalHarvest Customer,

There's something homey and comforting about real maple syrup. Real maple syrup has enough sweetness and natural flavor that just a touch goes a long way for satisfying a sweet tooth. Unless of course you're dabbling with vehicle-for-syrup flapjacks or waffles. You might need just a few splashes more, heated so the butter melts in lazy swirls around your plate. LocalHarvest is proud to host a number of regional maple syrup producers who have been in the business for generations.

First we have Carey's Sugar Bush, family producers of maple syrup since the 1870's, hailing from the Muskegon River Valley of Michigan. Then from the foothills of the Adirondacks of New York, we have Swiss'er Sweet Maple, and from Pennsylvania, Epler Farms Maple, and Hamilton's Maple. Aradia Farm, from Southbury, Connecticut offers small-batch syrup plus sweet treats like maple cotton candy and maple-glazed almonds.

As with many delightful provisions, maple syrup has its season and spring is one of the best times to get a fresh tap.

As always, eat happily and be well.
