Carlton Farms Newsletter

At Carlton Farms, we humanely and organically utilize domestic animals on grass to produce the nutritious food we provide for our community.
Delivery News
Milk and Egg Supply
We are quickly approaching our spring egg production season. As eggs become more plentiful we are able to lower the price from our "winter pricing". Starting this week eggs are now $6 per dozen. Enjoy .

Milk is still in adequate supply, as the girls have been producing good after our early 2019 calf crop. Plenty of milk available to order, and some extra available at the Mobile Market locations.

Delivery Fees:
I continue to really study the home delivery fees. It is my desire to find a fair reasonable fee structure that allows home delivery to be a solution for our customers and our farm. Many places do home delivery these days, but very few farm across the country are attempting that task in-house. This is why we are in a constant process of "try something, evaluate, then iterate. With my last iteration, we may have raised the $9.99 threshold a little to high, to $75. So, this week I have lowered that threshold to $50. Now, most orders can be home delivered for $9.99

For the moment this feels about right, what say you?

Finding a Private delivery group:
I am so excited about building more Private Group Delivery Locations. This is a hybrid between home delivery and pick-up locations. It makes delivery more efficient for us because we can drop several orders at one location. It also make the cost of delivery less for the customer for the same reason. One comment we heard often last week about the Private Group deliveries was: I'd be glad to host or be a part of a private group, but I don't know how to find others in my area. Because of privacy issues we cant just share the address of private delivery hosts. However, we will be posting a map here each week of locations where we have a private drop established, or where there are people interested. If one of those locations will work for you then let us know. We will send your info to the host and y'all can take it from there. We will probably hone this system over time, but my hope is that it will serve as a way to create more of a community around our local food system. I think we could all benefit form a support network of people in our communities that think and eat the way we do.

On the Farm
Last week in this space I promised an article about how we plan to celebrate our 100th year. Yes, Carlton Farms is 100 years old. Much has changed, and much has stayed the same. We want to celebrate this year, and we want to share that celebration with you.

We want this celebration to honor the generations that provided our foundation. I plan to do that by posting a series of articles about our history and the achievements of previous Carlton's. Those are in the works.

We want this celebration to be commemorated with happy times. We will do this by hosting get together's at the farm. I'm thinking cook-outs, pot-luck's, live music. Maybe 2-3 of these through-out the year starting probably late spring or early summer. More details coming soon. I hope you all can come.

And, of course. We will be offering 100 year special offers. Discounts on products to thank you, our customers, for helping us make it to 100 years.

Also, In case you didn't know. We archive all of my "On the Farm" articles in blog form. You can find those on our website. Click here to read our Blog, "Shooting the Bull".
